Vastu Shastra — the ancient Indian science of architecture and spatial arrangement — teaches us how to align our living and working spaces with the natural forces of the universe. When your home is in harmony with these forces, it becomes a source of health, prosperity, peace, and positive energy for everyone within it.
Vastu is grounded in the balance of five fundamental elements:
Vastu remedies work by restoring the balance of these elements within your space.
The most sacred direction. Keep it open, light, and clutter-free. Ideal for a prayer room, meditation space, or water feature. Heavy furniture or toilets in this zone are considered highly inauspicious.
The natural home of Agni. The kitchen is ideally placed here. The cook should face East while cooking. Avoid bedrooms in the South-East if possible.
Associated with Earth energy and stability. The master bedroom belongs here. The head of the family sleeping in the South-West with the head pointing South promotes health and authority.
Governed by the Wind element — suited for guest bedrooms, storage, or garages. Not ideal as a primary sleeping zone for the head of the family.
Keep the North side of your home open and well-lit. A home office or study facing North or East supports career growth and mental clarity.
The direction of the rising Sun. East-facing doors and windows invite positive solar energy. Living rooms and entrances work well here.
Keep the South wall solid and relatively high. Avoid main entrances from the South in residential settings.
The energetic heart of the home. Keep this area open and free of heavy structures, pillars, staircases, or toilets. An open central courtyard (Aangan) is the traditional ideal.
Not everyone can choose or modify their home's layout. In such cases, Vastu remedies — yantras, colours, placement of certain elements — can significantly reduce the negative impact of Vastu defects without structural changes. A Vastu consultation with our Jyotishis can identify the most impactful remedies for your specific space.
