Surya Vedic Mantra Jaap

Surya (the Sun) is the king of the nine planets and the primary significator of health, vitality, authority, the father, government favour, and the soul (Atma) in Vedic astrology. A strong and well-placed Sun confers leadership qualities, excellent health, professional recognition, and a radiant personality. When the Sun is afflicted, debilitated (Libra), or poorly placed, it manifests as chronic health issues, poor eyesight, lack of confidence, strained relationships with authority figures, and career setbacks in government or corporate hierarchies. The Surya Vedic Mantra Jaap is a seven-day ritual performed by 2 trained Brahmins. The Aditya Hridayam, Surya Beej Mantra (Om Hraam Hreem Hraum Sah Suryay Namah), and the Surya Ashtakam are chanted 6,000 times in total, with sessions of 3 hours each day during Brahma Muhurta — the most auspicious window for solar worship. Following the jaap, a Dashansh Hawan is performed (600 oblations into the sacred fire, one-tenth of the jaap count), along with Tarpan (water libations to the Sun deity) and Daan (charitable donation of wheat, jaggery, copper, and red cloth — all Surya-associated items — to a deserving Brahmin).
